“US” Jordan Peele’s sophomore movie is an excellent depiction on what may or may not be going on behind the closed doors in America. Peele is genius for giving us a compelling, thought-provoking, dark, gritty and plot-twisty movie all in one. The film itself had me hooked from start to finish. I’m a HUGE scary movie fan- and to think I was terrified to go to sleep at night just shows how unbelievable of a show it was. (I highly recommend you see it if you haven’t)
In the beginning, it’s a bit eerie as you see all white bunnies and one black bunny caged up (which was quite concerning and off). Was Peele trying to tell us something? It had me thinking about “Get Out” and how Daniel Kaluuya who played “Chris” was the only black guy in the North Carolina suburban community. Back to the movie- I want to say how amazing Lupita Nyong'o did for playing the role of Adelaide. Not only did she have to play two different people, but the thought of how real and raw she played them both was basically OMFG. I truly commend her and her performance. Not to mention how her co-stars Winston Duke who plays “Gabe,” Shahidi Wright who plays “Zora” and Evan Alex who plays “Jason” were just as incredible and amazing. But to me, Jason in particular really stood out. He plays a SIGNIFICANT part in the movie if you really watch and hear everything he is saying. (I’m not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it-JUST GO SEE IT!- But not at night!)
This action-packed thriller twist of a movie hits you in so many different ways when you actually find out what the moral of the storyline is and what Peele may be trying to “inform” people you’ll understand and think “WTF.” He uses certain words and images as a way to really lure you in-so make sure you’re paying close attention.
I don’t want to say any more than I already told other than that I genuinely 1000% believe that he will win multiple awards for this film.
I encourage you to see it and watch “Small details you missed in US” on YouTube because it’ll truly surprise you and have you thinking some conspiracy theory shit!
I leave it at that.
Til next time,
Xo
